The portion of Brandywine Creek covered by this report is the Main Stem from its confluence with the Christian River in Wilmington, Delaware to Smiths Bridge Road located 500 feet downstream from the Pennsylvania-Delaware border near Granoque, Delaware. This was a fourth of a series of four reports covering flooding along the Brandywine Creek and its tributaries. The developed areas of this flood plain were at the time of this report primarily residential and industrial and have been damaged by floods in 1920, 1952, 1955 and 1972. This report included a history of flooding in the Brandywine area and identified those areas which may be subject to possible future floods. Special emphasis was given to these possible future flood forecasts thru maps, photographs and profiles. While this report doesnt provide solutions it can aid in the identification of flood damage reduction techniques.
