Powder coatings, electrostatically applied to bare and primed aluminum and magnesium substrates, were evaluated as possible candidate coatings for aircraft and engine component parts. The powdered coatings were compared to the solvent based MIL-P-23377 primer and MIL-C-81773 topcoat system. When selected for specific applications, powdered coatings were superior to the solvent based coatings system in abrasion wear and chemical resistance. Author
