In the past two years, several new techniques have been introduced for the measurement of nanosecond and subnanosecond fluorescence processing. Because these methods use relatively simple instrumentation and offer exceptional time resolution and accuracy, they compete favorably with more established approaches. In this paper, an introduction to these new methods is provided and their capabilities and limitations assessed.
