Abstract:

The Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster Instrumentation Islands were tested at Mach numbers 1.75, 2.25, 3, and 10 for Reynolds numbers ranging from .600000 to 4740,000 per foot to evaluate potential error sources which might influence the flight test data. The test specimens were instrumented with flight tranducers and with VKF transducers as reference standard. They were mounted on a wedge and tested at wedge angles ranging from 3 to 25 deg. In addition, for the Mach number 10 tests, the VKF infrared system was used to monitor the surface temperature of the test specimens. Author
