A Codasyl interface has been constructed for Pascal and designed for Ada that exploits the data type systems of these languages. We believe that the form of this interface will simplify the writing of Codasyl applications and greatly reduce errors in coding. In particular, it relieves the user from the need to consider data currency and global data areas and uses the host languages type system to perform many checks at compile-time that in other interfaces can at best be done at run-time.
