Abstract:

This paper, one of a series focusing on the impact of Vietnam War on the beliefs of American leaders, draws upon data from that survey to address three questions. To what extent do the fundamental principles that guided American foreign policy during much of the post-1945 period continue to generate strong support from American leaders Is support for these axioms systematically related to respondents occupations and, is so, among which do we find the greatest and least support for them How does occupation compare to other correlates of foreign policy beliefs
