This study describes the need to intensify efforts to conserve the Armys experienced personnel resources through meaningful evaluations and fitness programs for soldiers of every age, rank and job specialty. It provides a detailed discussion of the primary risk factors associated with Coronary Heart Disease Aerobic training is emphasized as one of the most effective ways to improve cardiorespiratory fitness. Information on medical evaluations and determinations of fitness levels are included. Clinical procedures and screening techniques used with voluntary participants of the AWC Class of 1980 are discussed, and then followed by the study conclusion, recommendations and comments from the participants.
