Abstract:
This document contains a series of forecasts of medical technologies derived from an extensive literature search. These forecasts are not offered as being correct but rather as a summary of developments expected by others in the field. In each instance, bibliographic references have been provided so that the original article can be reviewed later, if desirable. In order to organize this material, medical technologies have been divided into five major categories diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic or rehabilitative, organizational, and supportive e.g., nursing care. Within each of these major categories, the forecasts have been subgrouped under techniques, drugs, equipment, and procedures.
