Abstract:
A concentrated theoretical and experimental research program has been ongoing at BRL in order to develop the predictive capabilities required for determining projectile aerodynamics. Supersonic computations using combined inviscid flow field and boundary layer techniques have been developed for cone-cylinder and ogive-cylinder configurations. Recent results have been obtained in supersonic flow over a typical boattailed projectile using modern computational techniques for solving the thinlayer Navier-Stokes equations.
