Abstract:

This thesis presents a stochastic simulation model of dismounted infantry combat that is designed to be used in conjunction with the Simulation of Tactical Alternative Responses STAR combat model. The tactics modelled, the assumptions made, and the interface requirements are detailed, with the computer code that is used to execute the model included. An overview of the basic STAR Ground Model is discussed in moderate detail to provide the reader a foundation on which to place the discussion of the dismounted model. The input requirements to use the model are explained so that this thesis can become an initial users manual in the use of the model. The definitions of the purpose of the routines and events, the global variables, entities and sets are provided to assist the reader attempting to understand the STAR model. Author
