Abstract:
This thesis deals with item shipment discrepancy reports submitted by receiving activities on a Standard Form 364, Report of Item Discrepancy ROID. The specific questions addressed concern the timely submission and usefulness of the report. The research consists of three parts. The first part examines the time it takes to process a report. The second part deals with identifying the major types of item shipment discrepancies. The final portion addresses the usefulness of the report in determining the underlying causes and the corrective actions taken as a result of the report. Recommendations made are designed to alleviate the shortcomings of the current program to enable the various shipping activities to be more responsive to the problems encountered by the customer. The information analyzed consists of data from four Air Force bases and the Defense Electronics Supply Center. Author
