A systematic approach to the calculation of coherent phase diagrams using high-level approximations of the Cluster Variation Method has been developed. The emphasis in this investigation was placed in higher than first neighbor interactions in order to treat the complex ordering observed in the Ni-V and Ni-Mo systems. The new Cluster Variation approximations, when applied to the Ising ferromagnet, yielded significant improvement on the results of previous applications of the theory. A new approach to the Ground State problem including pair and many-body interactions was also developed. Author
