This interim report summarizes the research essentially completed during the report period in question. The first section describes a numerically stable iterative method for the inversion of wavefront aberrations from measured point spread function data. Section two is devoted to the development of generalizations of Zernike polynomials that are useful in studying optimum balanced wavefront aberrations. The third section outlines the method of filtered singular value decomposition to wavefront deconvolution. Author
