This report is an annex to the Near-Millimeter Wave Technology Base Study. It contains a survey of the most recent literature dealing with the question of biological hazards that may be encountered while working with sources of near-millimeter wave NMMW radiation. There is currently a severe lack of data in the NMMW frequency region 100 to 1000 GHz. Thus, most of the conclusions take the form of extrapolations from work done at lower frequencies. The highly controversial issue of possible nonthermal effects is considered. Author
