Abstract:
Evaluations of surface treatments for adhesive bonding of Ti6Al4V were carried out using lap shear, peel and thick-thin wedge tests. Anodization to form dense oxides from 100-3000 A in thickness had little effect on bond strength or durability. Properties were governed by chemical pretreatments. Fluorine present in the anodization bath can cause oxidealloy failures and should be avoided. Author
