This document summarizes the research performed at Rice University during the period 1976-79 under AFOSR 76-3075 in several areas of numerical analysis of interest in aerospace systems theory, namely solution of nonlinear equations, solution of differential equations, mathematical programming problems, and optimal control problems. The work summarized here is applicable to these areas of aerospace engineering optimum atmospheric flight trajectories, optimum extra-atmospheric flight trajectories, optimum aerodynamic shapes, and optimum structures.
