This report is intended as a practical guide to land surveyors who use distance measuring equipment DME for making precise measurements of movements in dams and other large structures. The report consists of two parts First, DME calibration, error sources, atmospheric corrections and correct use Second, special techniques of trilateration and data reduction for precise mensuration on dams. This revised report contains several new sections dealing with error estimation, adjustment, and refractive index corrections.
