Abstract:

The design, test, and implementation of a set of algorithms to perform intelligent tracking and intelligent target homing on FLIR and TV imagery has been investigated. Research has been initiated for the development of an intelligent target tracking and homing system which will combine target cueing, target signature prediction, and target tracking techniques for near zero break lock performance. The intelligent tracker will monitor the entire field of view, detect and classify targets, perform multiple target tracking, and predict changes in target signature prior to the targets entry into an obscuration. The intelligent tracking and homing system will also perform target prioritization and critical aimpoint selection. Through the use of VLSIVHSI techniques, the intelligent tracker with inherent target cuer can be applied to the fully autonomous munition.
