Abstract:
This research and literature review investigated the relationship between acoustic signatures of small-arms projectiles and the suppressive behavior which results from soldiers perceptions of danger. Kinetic energy, which is associated with perceived loudness of passing projectiles, appears to be the primary physical property of projectiles that affects behavior under fire. The report is written for military personnel.
