Abstract:
Progress accomplished during the Second Quarter of FY79 in the Sonar Transducer Reliability Improvement Program is reported. Each of the nine program tasks are discussed in some detail. The most significant aspects are failure modes in the new TR-215 transducer design and the testing techniques used to discover them, the problem of not being able to measure very low background noise, the quantification of corona levels on ceramic, and the development of the sleeve spring pressure release mechanism.
