Abstract:
This report summarizes an investigation of the interactions among atmospheric tidal winds, the earths magnetic field, and metallic ions in the upper atmosphere 90-180 km. The results support the theory that upper atmospheric tidal winds play a critical role in the formation of ionospheric sporadic-E. The contributions of various tidal wind modes are analyzed through the use of extensive computer simulations. Author
