This report proposes robust detection theoretic approaches to HF signal reception. Most of these approaches require modifying recent robust detection theory results to the specifics of the HF communication problem. One approach recommended is direct and avoids this modification requirement however, it demands more original effort. The report contains a survey of recent robust detection theory research and discusses the applicability of the research results to HF additive interference models it concentrates on the known-signal case to highlight the additive interference problem.
