The nondestructive determination of the state of discharge of primary batteries has always been of great interest to electrochemists and battery engineers. If novel electrochemical systems are introduced, with reaction mechanisms different from the classical redox reaction, the question arises whether or not such systems are more amenable to a determination of their state of discharge than the classical redox system. This was the case with the lithiumorganic electrolytegraphite fluoride system which showed a mixed potential at the cathode. Author
