The title compound W4OPr1 14 H2 is formed in the reaction between W2NMe26 and PriOH and has been characterized by a single crystal X-ray study. Formation of this novel tetranuclear complex is accounted for by the following sequence of reactions a alcoholysis, W2 NMe26 6PriOH yields W2OPr16 6HNMe2, b oxidative addition of PriO-H across a WW, W2OPri6 PriO-H yields W2OPri7mu-H WW distance 2.4461 A and c association by PriO bridge formation, 2W2OPri7 mu-H yields W4 OPri14H2.
