Nonlinear models are developed for the handling-characteristics of submerged vehicles. This is accomplished by use of a cascade of a nonlinear gain, custom designed to fit the vehicles saturation characteristics, and a linear transfer function. The latter is obtained by application of GRAM Identifier upon the vehicles transient response. Validity over typical speed ranges and control surface excursions, is demonstrated. Author
