The feasibility of routine measurements of the mean droplet diameter in the spray resulting from normal injection of liquid jets into a supersonic airstream under high-density conditions in a blow-down wind tunnel employing the Diffractively Scattered Light tecniquie was investigated in detail. Also, some studies of the effects of injector diameter, jetfree stream dynamic pressure ratios, and location in the jet plume on the mean droplet diameter were conducted.
