Abstract:
Two antistatic coating formulations have been developed at the Harry Diamond Laboratories for the plastic nose cones of artillery fuzes. Both are conductive carbon-filled epoxy compounds. Formulation HDL900-3, developed in 1971, uses 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole EMI-24 as the curing agent. Formulation HDL900-6, developed as an alternative, uses m-phenylenediamine as the curing agent. Thermal stability, resistivity, and durability are the main criteria used to evaluate the formulations. The EMI-24 is of industrial grade. Its method of analysis and spectral data are recorded.
