Abstract:
This report examines organizational factors that can compromise the implementation and persistence of work redesign. Three organizational systems that constrain the implementation of substantial changes in work are reviewed, followed by four organizational practices that can reduce the likelihood that the effects of work redesign will persist. Throughout the report, strategies for improving the fit between redesigned work and the organizational context are reviewed and evaluated. Author
