This report describes teh program undertaken for the further development, assembly, and testing of the XM36E1 Fuze Setter. The program included the fabrication, test, and delivery of three First Article Acceptance Sample FAAS and 10 preproduction units that are designed to set the XM587E2 XM724 Electronic Time Fuzes from 0.2 to 199.9 s in 0.1 s increments. Latest design changes incorporated in the fuze setter system include revision of the battery charging circuit to vary charging current over the operating temperature range and provide a charging indication, design and development of a remote probe and coil cable to ease setting of fuzes in various field configurations, redesign of the fuze setter carrying-case assembly to allow packaging of these latest accessory additions, and other minor modifications such as revision of the pulse-width checking circuit, and evaluation of display readout window material. Basic design features and requirements were maintained, such as setting in less than 1 s, display readout of set time, battery-powered operation, low battery indication, and interrogating capability.
