This report presents the electric near fields of the trussed-whip, twin-whip, discone-cage, and bottom-fed fan shipboard hf antennas. It also discusses the importance of the electric near fields of hf transmitting antennas to the Navy the analytic approach used the near field characteristics of hf antennas on an extended ground plane and the near field characteristics of hf antennas in a structured environment. The final section develops a near field extrapolation algorithm with which the calculated near fields for antennas on an extended ground plane can be used to predict a bound on the near fields that will occur in a shipboard environment for these hf transmitting antennas.
