Data was collected on the marine traffic and VHF-FM marine communications channel usage at Mobile, Alabama, during the period of 23-30 January 1978. The daily average of marine traffic, including large, medium, small and anchored vessels, and tugs-in-tow, transiting the main ship channel and Intracoastal Waterway is 95. Approximately 150 hours of communications on VHF-FM Channels 13 and 16 were recorded and monitored to determine channel efficiency i.e., percentage of valid messages and utilization.
