The equivalent deterministic variable technique is a method for determining the RMS response of a linear constant coefficient system to random inputs. The mathematical development of this theory is reviewed. It is then applied to the prediction of the response of a STOL aircraft to low altitude turbulence. The outstanding and limiting features of this procedure are then discussed from an applications point of view. Author
