Abstract:

A network of loosely coupled processors is employed to minimize developmental and operational problems associated with programming a large number of parallel processes. Processors communicate via a central buffer called the Common File. An analysis is made to determine the nature of producerconsumer problems inherent in the architecture. Two classic producerconsumer problems are completely eliminated as a consequence of unique equipment implementation. Remaining producerconsumer problems are on par with, or less severe than, those found in conventional systems. Author
