Abstract:

These results suggest that the stage in cell growth most sensitive to oxygen causes cells to be delayed after DNA synthesis but before mitosis. A somewhat less sensitive site inhibits cells from initiating DNA synthesis. Also, the rate of DNA synthesis may be decreased by exposure to elevated oxygen tension. This study has characterized a system which has been advantageously used to explore the interaction between oxygen and human cells. Author
