The Job Guide technical order system of proceduralized data was introduced because conventional technical orders often did not adequately support the user in work situations. This thesis surveyed and analyzed attitudes of aircraft maintenance technicians who routinely used both styles of technical data. This approach provided a more objective comparison and added a new dimension to previous research. Generally, the Job Guide system was preferred over conventional. Technical Orders and a greater proportion of the surveyed technicians found Job Guides to be more acceptable. Additionally, technicians generally perceived Job Guides to be more usable than conventional TOs, but indicated that the LTTAs troubleshooting aids should be revised and improved. Author
