Abstract:

This study identified 21 generic solar assisted heat pump systems and subjectively evaluated them. The six most promising systems were evaluated in further detail. A complete objective analysis of the two most promising systems was then made to determine which could be most economical to install in a family housing unit at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. The system chosen was a solar hot water heating system in parallel with a water source heat pump. Preliminary drawings intergrating this system into a family housing unit at Little Rock AFB were developed. The system selected had a 27-32 year pay back. Author
