Abstract:

This paper is concerned with the accuracy of numerical solutions with coarse meshes of nonlinear partial differential equations, such as the Navier-Stokes. By presuming smooth, convergent difference approximations, some first differential analyses of the computational errors are carried out and an upper error bound of 0.03 ReDelta x-squared is recommended for second order accurate conservative difference schemes, computed at ReDelta x somewhat 2.
