Abstract:
Because of the stochastic and nonstationary nature of image processes, an adaptive estimation algorithm is proposed and evaluated for on-line filtering of an image scanned in a raster pattern. This algorithm combines a least squares parameter identification procedure with a two-dimensional reduced update Kalman filter. Results using an image with a 3 dB signal to noise ratio indicate that this adaptive algorithm is very effective for image restoration. Author
