Abstract:
Concepts have been developed to assist boat builders and designers in planning the control stations of the titled boat types. Utilization of these concepts should provide adequate visibility, space and control locations for 90 of the user population while minimizing safety hazards within the control station envelope. These concepts cover the design of control stations that have the characteristics listed below and should be used only for 1 Lower control stations on Cabin Cruisers designed for standupsitdown operation or sitdown only operation and 2 Flying bridges designed for standupsitdown operation or sitdown only operation. The design of control stations for smaller boats such as Runabouts, Bassboats Bowriders, Center Console, Fishing Boats, etc., are not discussed here.
