A brief survey of existing data on foliage attenuation of RF energy is presented. It is shown that most researchers have concluded from this data that RF energy is attenuated more rapidly in foliage at higher frequencies. Also, signal reflections from the foliageair interface are shown to be a significant loss mechanism that is relatively frequency independent. Finally, curves for predicting RF signal reflection from and attenuation within foliage are presented.
