Comparisons of Isogradient- and Isospeed-Layer Models for Ray Tracing,

Pagination or Media Count:
If in a stratified ocean an acoustical signal is emitted by a source at a known time and received at another location at a known time, if the angle of arrival of the ray path at the receiver is known, and if the speed of sound profile is known, then the acoustical path from receiver to source can be traced back and the position of the source estimated. The relative accuracies of two models of speed-of-sound profiles used in performing this task are compared.
