Abstract:
A composite of 0.42 VfW-2 ThO2 filament reinforced cobalt base alloy has been developed. It can be fabricated by convential investment casting process, has a 1093 C 2000 F, 100 hr. stress-to-rupture of 206 MNsq M 30Ksi, and a charpy impact strength of 280.0 in-lb at 835 C as compared with 20.6 in-lb for the unreinforced alloy. Also the feasibility of casting a prototype first stage blade of JT9D engine has been demonstrated. Author
