Abstract:

A methodology for, and the results of, a systematic evaluation and comparison of the alternatives for replacement or upgrading of tray delivery service in Army Medical Treatment Facilities is provided. The methodology determines the effectiveness of four viable alternatives in terms of performance, labor requirements, compatibility with existing facilities, equipment characteristics, and cost and compares the results with the conventional hotcold carts currently in use. The results of the analysis show that the insulated tray concept for patient tray delivery offers the highest level of effectiveness for the systems evaluation through improved labor, equipment, and compatibility characteristics.
