A method for the study of surfaces and interfaces based on the optical excitation of surface plasmons by the attenuated total reflection method is presented. The metallic adsorption of Ag, Au on Ag, Au and Al substrates under ultra high vacuum are studied. The AuH2SO4IN and AuHC1041N interfaces are also considered.
