Abstract:

The area of research to which this study relates is that of pattern recognition and in particular, the automated recognition of objects irrespective of the location, orientation and magnitude of such objects in the field of view of the observer. It is shown that a recently developed Associative Memory technique is suitable for use in a hierarchial mode together with an automated computer video system, for detecting, tracking and subsequently recognizing an object irrespective of variations in location, size and orientation.
