The equations of motion of an aircraft, for small perturbations from flight with constant linear and zero angular velocities, are developed in detail using constant-velocity or body-fixed axes encastre or free-free modes and displacement or velocity body freedom coordinates. The relationship is clearly stated between these various forms and with other proposed forms, in particular those using mean-body axes. The whole development is kept consistent, as far as possible, with the Hopkin notation scheme. Author
