Abstract:

An analysis of the transient temperature and heat transfer variations in the cap of a modified piston engine NAHBE was made. The objective was to estimate the regenerative heating effect due to the cap under various operating conditions. A finite difference model was developed which accounted for variable heat transfer coefficients and environmental temperatures. An explicit method of solution was obtained by use of a digital computer. The parametric study has suggested conditions where a regenerative heating effect is significant. It will be more useful when used in conjunction with experimental and future research. Author
