Abstract:

This study is an empirical investigation of the economic effect of regulations imposed by EPA and OSHA on the ferrous foundry industry. Its inception was motivated by expressed concern of some officials in DIRSO and OASDMRA and L about the impact of federal environmental, health, and safety legislation on firms comprising the defense industrial base. The econometric methodology employed consists of statistical estimation of the parameters of various supply-and-demand models of the market for iron and steel castings.
