Updated projections are presented for housing demand by type of unit and region for use in planning by public agencies and private business. Housing demand is projected to remain strong throughout the 1980s if economic growth continues. In the 1990s and beyond, housing demand will moderate because of declining population growth. Demand for single-damily housing will remain strong, and regional shifts in population to the South and the West will continue. Author
