The literature on the use of halons as fire suppressants is reviewed. Specific areas covered are The decomposition of halons thermally and catalytically in fire situations The effects of fire, halon concentration, and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity on corrosion rates The corrosion effects of halons on diesel engines, sensitive instruments, electronic components, and computer materials.
